9-23-11(Half Day!!!)

Today was a special day in Advanced Language Arts, so ill start off by saying Happy Birthday Mrs. Schwarting. Hopefully I'll be more informed on birthdays next time. We didn't get to do much in our 25 minute class today though :-(. We finished our nouns and pronouns test. I had trouble finding a 3rd person subject pronoun in the paragraph and I forgot to answer the "What are pronouns?" question. Hopefully Ill remember next time. I also watched one of the videos on the Our Choice E book. I found the video interesting but it was also an argument in the comments that I found interesting. People seem to say that this whole E book is great, but people don't learn as well from E books. I personally agree, but i am curious about the science behind the ides.

Today in Advanced Language Arts we began the day by reevaluating our individual contracts. I finally have a more complete view on our contract and I have the contract finished. We also got to see an example of our projects. I feel a little bit more confident after seeing an example. My main worry right now is trying to create what seems like a really huge project in 2 weeks without having any feel for the process yet. I am slightly confused on what we are supposed to be putting in our research paper as opposed to in our symbaloo webmix. Should we just put our research paper in the webmix through a Google Doc? I am also curious if there is a website I could create a timeline on.

Today in Advanced Language Arts we started the class by having our class discussion as usual. During our computer lab time I got to see a lot of new web resources from Mrs. Schwarting's webmix. I plan to use some of them for my future projects and presentations. During our class time I also kind of relearned the Literary Analysis. I vaguely remember doing them from last year but I've forgotten since then. It is best that I get used to them if they are something we will need for college. I cant wait to see our work on our projects begin. I've already done my contract but I'm not sure what we are supposed to do for learning objectives. I'm also a bit disappointed that we are going to have a short unit, I was hoping to do a bigger project that would take a longer time.

Today in Advanced Language Arts we began the day with our group discussion. I am really enjoying our group discussions. I like being able to see what everyone else thinks and put in what I think about things. I think I am doing pretty well with nouns and pronouns. I cant wait to see what I get on the test! I am still enjoying the blogs but I also really like Blogger itself. It lets you do a lot of different things with your blog that I really enjoy. I also have found that I've become very fond of Symbaloo. I am currently trying to make my own personal homepage webmix. I am also very happy to hear that my Character and Setting blog is doing well.

Today in Language Arts I got to get a better understanding of Blogger and the actual purpose of  these blogs during our class discussion. At first (when we were told to do blogs) I thought we were supposed to summarize our activities in class. Then I thought we were supposed to summarize and reflect upon each class period. Now I realize that we are only supposed to reflect on each class period. I also realized that we are supposed to be extremely specific in our blogs  I am beginning to like the idea of blogging now that I understand the way we are supposed to use it. This blog helps me organize my thoughts about my homework and all of the things I have to do for it. I also gained a better understanding of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd person pronouns. 1st person pronouns are used when someone is talking about themselves, 2nd person pronouns are used when someone talks to someone else, 3rd person pronouns are used when someone talks about someone else. I also feel like I have a better grasp on what my project can be and how some of the things we have done for the past few weeks are important and how they apply to our projects and our learning. I have also created a second blog for my setting and character objective work. When creating this blog I found that by using the advanced settings you can do a lot of cool things to your blog.

Today in Advanced Language Arts we started the day with our class discussion. After that my group and I finished with our reading contract. I read The Walker Of Time for the first hour of class. I really enjoy it so far, and I'm only on page 22. After that we went to the computer lab and took an SRI test. The test measures our lexile score. I remember taking the test a long time ago( like 3rd Grade). My score came out to be 1288. I think that's pretty good. I did some work on my Prezi after the test. I also learned more specific information on pronouns, like what a subject/object pronoun is, or the difference between each.

Today in Language arts we had a class discussion while doing a plus delta chart. It was really good to have this discussion today because it helped me reorganize my thoughts. I was able to better understand the things I am supposed to be doing and what I may be doing wrong or right. It was also good to see that it looks like we have a better grasp on this as a whole class. I am also getting more familiar with Prezi and Blogger and how they work. I think I have also learned a bit about concrete and abstract nouns. I managed to finish my Prezi and get my groups book.

Today we had another short conversation with TESLA. We got to show them our Google Search Story about p'edor copain(their crescent gecko). After that we talked a little bit more about Blogger. I learned about what I should do to protect my blogs in case there was an error.We went the computer lab and learned about Prezi. I think Prezi is a really great web app, I plan to use it in the future. After a short fire drill we got back to class and discussed our books and a bit more about Blogger.

I think that for our Google search stories we could have everybody create and publish their own Google search story. We could take a vote on witch is the best and wend that to tesla.
